:: this is my quiet easter sunday ::

4.09.2012

this earthy holiday of rebirth certainly lifts a heart, and freshens up a stale soul.
things are moving. lots is happening. it's a bit terrifying, but mostly exhilarating.
this spring air, without a doubt, makes magic happen--mostly within this heart of mine.
i'm embarking on scary things. big things. wonderful things. i'm all too aware that
the higher i aim the more dramatic the fall...but, mostly, i'm over it. sort of.

the path? well, we'll see how all the details work themselves out.
but the goal is clear: start my own school. give me ten, twenty years.
i'll have a school. i've finally given myself a heart-to-heart about real dreams,
not "back-up" dreams when the real dreams seem too crazy.

spring has given me the guts to do hard things. it's given me the will-power
to put my pride aside, to study harder than i've ever studied, to work harder
than i've ever worked--and i'm enjoying every minute of it.

this earth is moving me. is it moving you?

{ceej has arrived safely in china. miss him terribly. one week. here we go.}

pretty dresses, hip spectacles, and real-live bunnies

4.22.2011

these are lovely photos from the family archives...
my sweet mom and her family from the 1950s-1960s.
this is nostalgia at it's best, yes?
i certainly love seeing my cute little mom with her dimples
and sparkling eyes {which, of course, are still my favorite features of hers}.

i am wondering about that bunny...
celia jane tells the story often of when she was a little girl
and her family had a couple of bunnies : one particularly hot day
her and her sister became quite in a panic as they worried
their little bunnies were over-heating in all of that fur
on the hottest day of the year...
they proceeded to poor buckets and buckets of cold water
on those bunnies...i won't tell you how it ended.
i only hope that the bunny pictured here had a better life.
{hoping you're not planning on getting yourself a bunny,
unless, that is, you happen to be a bunny-raising-extraordinaire}.

today also happens to be earth day...
i love that this weekend is full of ways to celebrate life
and all that this earth and beyond have to offer us.
life is sweet, isn't dear readers?

happy weekend!

{pssst....}

just wanted to say thank you! for all the reminders that it's okay to be human.
feeling much better.
also, i think we need to start a california chapter of kate's mediocre club. brilliant.

can't wait for this concert tomorrow night. should be dreamy.
i also wanted to urge you all to watch this documentary on martin luther king, jr.
airing on pbs on wednesday.

this is a photo of the best peanut butter chocolate easter egg i've ever eaten.
we have been nibbling on it for the past couple of days...
trying to make it last as long as possible.

okay...now i'm off to finish packing.
see you next monday!

easter festivities...

4.18.2009

Easter was such a lovely day. So good to be with Ceej and family on a blue-sky day.

I spent my Friday coloring the eggs...love the traditional colors.

Eggs are personalized simply. Just like Celia Jane used to do it.

Here I am hiding the eggs out in the yard for the grandkids to hunt for.

This year's hunt was full of excitement...though there were only three grandkids...the rest of us aunts and uncles were more than happy to shadow them on their extravaganza.

I had a fun time taking photos of the kids...they made it oh so easy.

oh, what joy a basket full of goodies, and a pretty spring dress to twirl in!

the boys couldn't stop laughing as they battled Uncle CJ

who do you think won? well...Uncle CJ plays fair--which means he didn't play "weak"--he beat those kids until they laughed to the death.

couldn't have had a better easter!

happy easter weekend!

4.10.2009

hope you have fun
dying eggs
then hiding them
then finding them
(maybe eating them)
take photos of your pretty new dress
while holding your old easter basket
next to the blossoming apricot tree
enjoy the flowers beginning to emerge from the earth
notice the warmer breezes
and raindrops on your bare arms
breathe in the earth-scented air
and
"think to yourself...what a wonderful world!"
(p.s. ceej flies in tonight for 2 days and 3 nights!)

why we like easter...

ceej can't resist cadbury...
neither can celia jane
(notice they both have initials C.J.)
since ceej got to have a treat i thought i'd get one too...
my new favorite:
chocolate marshmallow lollipop!
you can only get them here.
