project grand teton : training in the foothills and the mountains |r u n|
8.15.2012
we've been running every day, taking advantage of our beautiful foothills and mountains.
first thing on my training list: get my mountain, high-altitude lungs back after a summer
at much lower altitudes. every morning seems to be mostly about breathing.
i feel as if my legs could go and go and go, but my lungs beg me to take breaks now
and then from our steady pace--the uphill really tests my lungs and heart.
thank goodness ceej is good at running circles around me. i probably have to take breaks and walk
one or two times each time we go out. i'm hoping that by next week i won't have to stop
so much. fingers crossed.
yesterday i slowly started introducing some weight-training...which is totally bizarre and strange to me.
but i figure, since this 30-year-old body wants to be just as healthy when it's 80-years-old i need to help it get stronger so that my activities can be done safer (and easier).
we're off to the cabin later tonight for the rest of the week. living a few thousand feet higher will
hopefully help me get my mountain body back.

Yay the cabin!!! I always love when you post photos of the cabin. :-)
get it, girl :) i miss having mountains to run in!!
What a beautiful place to run through! You are very blessed indeed!
Wow, looks like a lovely pmace to run! Just wondering if you made your photographer run all the way with you, haha :)
I love the mountains so deeply. These photos are inspiring, and make me wish I didn't live two hours from the mountains in the middle of a city.
You go girl! Have fun!
Miss Flying V,
My photographer, aka ceej, runs circles around me as I am not as fast as he is...I think he enjoys a "break" to take photos :)
Awesome! What kind of shoes are you training in?
I admire you! Go for it :)
we are like-minded in this! I'm currently training for a half-marathon, and my husband can also run circles.....though I must admit, you win the vista award! Grrrr, jealous. Though NYC bridges are nice, your environment can't be beat....Congrats!
oh i love this series of pictures! so awesome that you are training for this. trail running is such absolute fun.
This is so great! :)
Wow! So beautiful. My husband + I have been running too. I've never done it before, but I'm enjoyed it most of the time ;) It's hard work. My husband can run circles around me too. I have to take walk breaks too. We need to try trail running. ♥Lindsay
wait, are you planning on RUNNING up it?
i've been marathon training but not on trails...eek!
geez louise you go girl!
xo the egg out west.
oh no! I'm not running up the Grand...just doing some trail running to get my heart used to higher altitudes again after a summer at only 1000 ft. above sea level. oi. so glad i'm not running up the Grand. walking and climbing. that is all :)
