i still haven't wrapped my head around this adventure. amazing. definitely more than i bargained for.
the first day had the usual up's and down's...
~ slept friday night in the car with ceej. matt (aka tom bombadil) braved the frost in his bivy.
~ woke saturday morning thirty minutes past the alarm...oops!
~ took our time eating pastries & peaches for breakfast as we waited for the sun to warm the frost
~ got news that there was snow and ice on the route...which meant ice axes and cramp-ons would be coming along in our packs
~ finally started hiking towards the meadow (original base camp plan)
~ moved at a comfortably fast pace. breathing was deep, quick, but good.
~ made it to the meadow. no problem. was feeling so good i agreed to keep going to the lower saddle for base camp.
~ soon after we passed the meadow the trail got steeper and the air got thinner...which meant i stopped to take deep breaths after every 15-20 steps. slow moving, but positive.
~ made our way past the caves and that endless boulder field.
~ arrived at base camp around 4:30. so happy to take off my heavy pack.
pretty uneventful so far. good times with ceej & matt. happy to be on the mountain.

Everything about this, I love.
So captivating and beautiful. I'm itching for the rest of this story.
I can't get over how beautiful our planet is!
Lovely pictures!! I am inspired by what Mr. Edward Abbey said. Thank you for sharing your adventures! :)
