on our little day-camp i made sure to bring a cozy coat & scarf.
ceej took photos...because i love my wool coat/cape and scarf so very much. both were gifts from cj from years past.

who doesn't love little lovely details?
so great how we can be so thrilled by something so small.

red hair. from my irish heritage.
i'm always surprised at how red it really is.

ceej took many photos of my wedding ring...do you think he's trying to say something?
{note: cj has lost five, yes, five of his wedding rings...i'm just sayin'}

climbing around on the rocks.

loved watching the sunset with ceej. more photos of that awe-ful event to come.

as the sun set we had ourselves some hot cocoa...

homemade, spicy hot cocoa that is.

2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup cocoa
2 1/2 cups powdered milk
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cornstarch
1/8-1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
{depending on how much "kick" you want}

{we also added a chunk of stone ground taza mexican chocolate!}

isn't ceej handsome in wool?
i think so.
my very favorite.

our day camp was rather charming and very needed.
tomorrow i'll show you the sunset.

{by the way, thank you everyone for such wonderful birthday words and wishes. it was oh so nice to hear from all of you. i had a wonderful day indeed!}

I am so glad you had a nice birthday, in some of my favorite places, too. Apple Hill and Lake Tahoe are places I went frequently growing up, I miss them, but I am so glad to see you enjoying it there.

Why did you add cornstarch to your cocoa?

Happy birthday, your pictures are delicious, and I would love to drink that cocoa while watching the sunset and snuggling into a big wool sweater with my by my side.

I loved your reflections about becoming a real woman- I felt the same way last year when I turned 27 and felt miffed at the new number -7- because it meant that I was supposed to be that-much-more adultish. Or something. But ah, how lucky we are to be young and in love, eh?

Heavenly, heavenly vignettes from your life. What a lovely (refreshing!) blog, my dear! I just found you whilst blog surfing instead on working on grant applications, but look- it was well worth it!
