traveling with voyage magazine : behind the scenes

things are busy over here as we're gearing up for our trip to england in a few weeks.
sheesh. busy now so we can relax and enjoy our journey together later.
can't wait to be traveling with britt and marte again. these women are solid travel companions.

as i was quickly browsing through the thousands of images from last year's voyage,
i came across these gems--the three of us had this small and lovely museum outside of oslo
almost entirely to ourselves...so what do we do? start playing with light and doing
silly things all in the name of portraits...

maybe tomorrow i'll show you the series of "portraits" britt took of me in this lil' museum.

paris : watching the sun go down while sitting on the siene

the last night of our european adventure was spent on the siene watching the sun go down.
it was nice to have no real plan other than sitting idly by this iconic lover's river.
and that's all we did. we just sat and watched the sun go down--
and did a little people watching too. we watched the other lovers and the other groups of friends
enjoy a night of pure idle nothingness. just lots of deep breaths, coy smiles, and leaning heads on shoulders.

ten years ago ceej and i kissed for the first time. what kids we were. what bliss.

it's a good spring day to be thinking about love.

rome : foro romano

ceej and i were just thrilled to be together in rome--
so we were pretty lazy on the creative-tourist front.
we really just walked around a lot looking for food...

we did mosey in to a few tourist sites that are really great.
i love seeing the old roman ruins at the forum.
seriously pretty amazing...and amazing how they had
been buried over hundreds of years to make room for new construction.

i love the marble and stone in this city. it's incredible.

meeting up with ceej : a roma

ceej and i, out of necessity, often travel separately.
last spring as i went galavanting through norway and italy
with the beautiful marte and britt, i must admit i was looking
forward to the last half of our stay in rome:
ceej would be meeting up with me in that romantic city.

it's kind of dreamy to say: "ya, i'll be meeting my husband in rome."

after two weeks apart i was thrilled to have ceej by my side again
as we "took a detour" getting to the villa borghese and stumbled
upon an equestrian event, found out that some museums require
a reservation and we were turned away, climbed the spanish steps,
ate the most delicious pasta and gelato, and even did some shopping.

rome was just perfect for us. it was a little on the hot side, but i managed.

manifesto monday : bring it with you

i've been looking through archived images of my adventures last year
while planning upcoming trips to the desert and across the ocean.

it's difficult not to get antsy. lusting to wander.

it's also difficult to put away the fears:
how is it all going to come together?
what if i miss out on what i'm really looking for?
where will i find the words to tell it how it was?

and then i read emerson's advice,
and i settle in with them.

i've already started to pack and unpack these words--
they are quickly becoming part of my daily luggage,
a reminder that even while in the office i can carry
beauty with me...

and i'll definitely be carrying beauty with me as
i set out on a whirlwind of adventures,
setting my anxieties aside and replacing them
with attention to the details and the way my
breath pulses as i soak it all in.

this i believe.

hawaii : catching up on adventure

as i make plans for upcoming travels i have realized that i haven't
completed documenting many adventures from last year.
where does the time go?

there is much more from hawaii, italy, france, and norway to show you.
not to mention more cabin trips and camping excursions.

so, next week is catch up time here on the blog.
there will be lots of photos from europe, from the desert, from the mountains.
