i've been thinking about how lucky i am
to live.
i've been thinking about
how hard it is to let go at first,
but how quickly i give in.
i've been thinking about stories
all over the world that have been
told over and over and over again.
i've been thinking about
things that make me want to weep
for mothers who bear heavy burdens.
i've been thinking about traveling to cold
places to find the earth moving in a way i've never known.
i've been thinking about the violin
and how it weeps and moves the earth to meet its depths.
i've been thinking about how to trim my list
of wants.
i've been thinking about books i'll never
know even exist
and the pages i'll never read.
i've been thinking of singing this song about gardens that revive the dead
and then going to croatia to sing this song that's been sung for generations.
i've been thinking about giving up worrying
and giving in to peace.{photos by cj and me}
i'm falling behind on all my film developing and scanning...
so you'll have to put up with some digital images for now.
am in love with this cool weather that has finally come to our neck of the woods.
we go walking so much now,
ceej patiently waits for me as i snap away with my camera.
there's just so much to see!!!
my schedule has changed a bit,
and posting is happening later in the day now...
i hope you don't mind.
i'm just pleased when i do find some time in the late afternoon
to stop in and say hello
and share with you how beautiful this earth is.
hope your tuesday has been good to you.

yesterday morning we had a gloriously cloudy sky.
all week temperatures will be in the 70's.
basking in this temporary fall weather.
happy tuesday.
it's a good day,
wouldn't you say?
been listening to old gospel and folk songs that praise the river and water.
love listening to mavis staples, lead belly, woodie guthrie, mahalia jackson, gillian welch,
the alvin ailey soundtrack, and many more.
it makes me ache for our third annual revival theme party:
picnic out on the grass,
singing and harmonizing our hearts out,
clapping our hands and banging cow bells,
dancing 'til our bare feet are sore,
taste-testing pies for a grand prize winner.
so grateful to have this river in my backyard.
she heals my heart every time we meet.
there was the perfect breeze...calming my entire soul as it
whisped my hair in every direction,
and allowing me to truly enjoy the sun without its crippling heat.
oh, this grass!
don't you just want to lie in it from sun-up to sun-down?!
this seems to be the perfect place to rest your back against the trunk of the tree,
while memorizing your favorite lines of poetry,
teaching your tongue to speak of beautiful truths.
the orange and purple blossoms swooned my confused heart to a peaceful standstill.
what gifts of beauty we are given!
what more do we need?!
i think this stretch of long grass would be perfect for
a three-legged race.
and these trees would be the perfect cover
for stolen smooches.
this grove would also be ideal for waiting to spot faeries
and their distant cousins, butterflies.
this is a river that brings me true joy,
showing me what this earth can truly be,
and what i can truly become.
honest, simple, solid, true.
shall we gather at the river?
thank you, all of you, for your comments of encouragement and empathy.
you are wonderful, beautiful people.
though i feel lost and confused these days,
i simultaneously feel calm and sure.
quite the paradox...stretching me in wonderful directions.
did some good reading today...which left me questioning my path even more.
but, it is something i need to consider.
i also went for a lovely walk along the river.
it's a beautiful day here.
perfect temperatures, a wonderful breeze.
wish it would stay like this forever.
more photos of my walk tomorrow...
this was my kind of morning.
oh, this foggy shroud stirred my soul.
it wrapped me up,
whispered to my heart that this is it.
this is what makes everything worth it.
still. gray. calm.
this is what makes you see the world
in colors you never noticed before.
this is what pricks your senses,
allowing you to hear every bird song
and ripple on the water.
this is it.
