into the woods : create your own group wherever you are

11.06.2012

i've had so many lovely comments and emails from wonderful women all over the world
expressing a desire to join us...and i say "please do!"

i herefore invite all of you wherever you reside to organize your own "into the woods"
group of women to explore the beauty that is just outside your door.
you could go on a walk, a hike, a picnic, a ski tour, a boat ride...anything outside!

feel free to use any of these images to promote your own "into the woods" event.

then i want to hear and see all about it. send me photos, words, anything about your own events.

let's get outside!

I love this idea. Just out of curiosity: It seems a bit discriminating to not include biological men in this, no? I'd keep it open for everyone and not mind their biological sex :) What made you restrict it to women?

Ilwen,

I am keeping this open to women because, where we are, the outdoors are dominated by men which makes a lot of women hesitant to get outside. I find a lot of women are intimidated by many men's egos. Of course, not all outdoor men have oversized egos or machismo, but I have found more women are willing to get outside if there are no men involved initially. In the states, the outdoor industry is 80% male, and I'm simply trying to get more women involved. I spend a lot of time outdoors with wonderful men, and now I also want to spend some time with women outdoors.

I see. That does make sense. I just felt it would be a bit sad for any guy who'd like to take part and couldn't. It's quite sad that the outdoor industry is such a male business - it's pretty much the same in Germany. Good you're trying to change that a little :)

Hi guys,
I thought you might like to visit my blog Oldest Trees (!), which I write from a small village up in the Gory Izerskie mountains in Lower Silesia, at the border of Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. It's at http://najstarszedrzewa.blogspot.com.
best wishes,
