paris : sacre coeur...what are you made of?
7.13.2012
we started out our last day in paris visiting the sacre coure, high up on its hill overlooking the city.
there was a drizzling rain that required an umbrella now and then, and i was happy to enjoy
the most delicious orange chocolate scone of my entire life on the steps up to the lovely cathedral.
once inside i was pleasantly overtaken by the booming pipes of the organ...lucky us the choir
(of all nuns) and the organ were in fine form this morning. we lingered and listened until
we felt we had been filled with lovely music and architecture.
we strolled around montmarte, trying to get away from the crowded main streets.
we picked up a banana-nutella crepe to eat in the cool weather. perfect.

hoping to get more photos of vermont up soon. sorry for so much silence between posts.
happy weekend!

Wonderful photography and perfect choice of words as always! I adore the nostalgic mood in your photos.
Please tell me you rode on that gorgeous carousel? Swoon!
Cassie,
The carousel was actually quite creepy...no one was on it, and there was some faint circus music playing. I was a bit terrified. So no riding the carousel for me...maybe next time when more people are out :)
I remember eating the most delicious crepes at the foot of the Sacre Coeur - but we were there in July - HOT! It sounds extra delightful to be there in the the light rain.
Beautiful photos.

golly, those quotes were just what I needed! Where did you find that Dostoevsky one? Lovely photos and thoughts as always. good luck with all of your school work!
Elisse,
I found the quote on Goodreads ;)
Gorgeous, gorgeous pictures. You have renewed my love of Paris.
These photo make me miss France so much. Your photos and words describe the nostalgie of it with such delicacy and careful observation.
I really enjoy reading your blog; your thoughts and eye for detail are very inspiring.
Sometimes I could spend hours just sitting somewhere and watching the world around me.
Thank you everyone for saying such nice things!
Sabine, I wish we all could watch the world all day every day. That would be dreamy indeed.
Perfect indeed. That carousel looks like it's from another world called heaven! Love your pictures and words!
Paris is really a pretty place. :)
Ann-Marie, I love love that picture of you in your green coat, you look so contented
Can I please also ask what type of camera and film you used to get that type of photo? i'm a beginner! :) Thank you
Hey Frances!
Thanks so much for the compliments!
With these photos I used a NikonD90 (no film!). To get this color balance I use photoshop to tweak the white balance, contrast, clarity, and saturation.
