europe on the brain : a summer eve's walk in derbyshire {part one}

12.02.2011

it feels like everyone (well, maybe just two or three people) i know is
either in europe at the moment, or has just returned from visiting.
ceej has been hopping around from germany to switzerland to norway, and now back to germany.
this lovely lady is creating beautiful things in her home near oslo,
and another good friend made a spontaneous decision to visit london for thanksgiving.
i'm feeling like europe is in my near future--at least i feel i'm going to try my best to get there
within the next few months. switzerland, germany, and norway sound lovely right now.
i think europe in the winter would be absolutely breathtaking.

these photos are from our visit to derbyshire this past summer.
what a lovely bit of earth this place is.
i could see how the land has inspired such wonderful literature.
it is a place that demands you walk in it. every day.

ceej returns home on sunday, and i can hardly wait to
share in all this holiday cheer that's going round with him.

are you feeling any wanderlust lately? what land is pulling on your heart strings?

have a happy, dreamy weekend!

Oh, yes....I often dream of traveling to Europe again. I think Paris and Amsterdam are my favorites but I would really love to travel to Sweden, Ireland, almost anywhere!

Lovely photos. I remember those skies when I was there. I just want to step into the picture and take a walk. Feel and smell the fresh wet air. I always go to Europe in the fall. It is my favorite time to travel. Was in England for Christmas once...very wet and cold...but festive. Winter in California (at least where I live) has no personality. Same beautiful weather all the time. It is boring. If it rains people complain. And the Wind...they seriously think the world is coming to an end. Having spent much of my life in Utah, Idaho, or the mountains...I have to laugh.
I miss the seasons. The disruption to perfection. Hope to travel to Europe next year. Austria perhaps...love that country. But Africa...is what pulls my heart strings.

Prague in winter is magical. I'm thoroughly enjoying it here, but am looking forward to visiting home (Florida) for Christmas.

Your blog always ignites my wanderlust for the west. I've never been and it's a shame that I haven't seen more of our country. But Europe definitely has it's visual pleasures. :)

I don't know if I've ever commented on one of your posts. This one begged me to. I've been thinking of Europe this winter as well. Would love to spend Christmas in Prague! Ah...sigh...to dream.

Happy weekend,
Jen

PS: Beautiful pictures!

I keep scheming to get back to the redwoods. I can never get my fill, and now I need to take Forrest to the forest he was named after :)

If I had the budget and no kid, though, it'd be Morocco. I loved Uganda, but I feel like I need to set up camp on another corner of that continent for awhile.

Sigh. Your enthusiasm for wandering awakens mine!
