i tried very hard to keep myself busy for the weekend
while i was alone at home.
and i think i made good use of every moment.
i read prolific amounts
{going between printed books and my new birthday kindle}.
i practiced the piano, counting aloud and repeating measures over and over and over.
i also knitted this cover for my new kindle.
i finally broke down and got myself this electronic device
for the sake of ceej and those who come to visit my home--
the books at our place are overflowing into every nook and cranny.
of course, i'm not completely giving up on printed books {never!},
but this will cut down on the clutter significantly.
anyway, love the little cover i made with its button and ribbon.
note: the way to my heart is with either ginger or pumpkin.
i made myself some giant ginger cookies.
{get the recipe here}
i truly enjoyed sitting in my giant chair reading, knitting, eating cookies,
and, yes, listening to the BBC lord of the rings radio series.
one night i tried listening to edgar allen poe and other scary stories,
but was, well, too scared. i'll have to try again when cj is with me.

what i am not torn about is how much i love ginger cookies and knitting although i wish i could be right acroos you to learn more!
I would have been too scared too. :-)
Would love to have your kindle cover recipe as well! It's lovely.
i love your weekend alone....and the cover you knitted is most wonderful !
all lovely..i have pondered the kindle too. my little house sometimes looks like a rat's maze with all of the books stacked everywhere..then i neatly stack them in the shelves...see somebody else's home cluttered with books and miss my mess.
i have been practicing christmas music on my piano late every afternoon...it fills me with peace.
so HAPPY to visit you today, as always

A nearly perfect weekend. I just got a kindle too, but I'm not sure I'm ready to full embrace it. I'll miss paper - and the truth is books are much more expensive (if, like me, you are used to picking picking up books at used bookstores.)
So incredibly lovely! I want to replicate every single moment myself. And the Poe thing? I absolutely cannot listen or read him alone. I once memorized the first five stanzas of the Raven for a school project and freaked myself out. I was in 6th grade.
Girl, what size are those needles? One? Two?
Gorgeous!
adorable cover!!! and yum, ginger cookies!
what a cute idea for a kindle cover!
i have a question for you. i am in the market for a new camera. i like to think that i have an artist's eye, but that's it. no technical knowledge. i'd like to spend some money on a good camera that i could grow into as i learn more about photography. what type/brand of camera and lens(es) would you suggest for an aspiring photographer?
i've said it before, and i'll say it again, your blog is total eye candy!
beautiful Kindle cover!! I just picked knitting back up again and I'm inspired to make something like this :). those cookies also look and sound delicious...i love anything ginger :)
Ginger cookies have my heart! Your look SO delicious.
Ooh, this sounds like my kind of weekend. I love the knit kindle cozy you made (good work!), the cookies, AND the Lord of the Rings. It all sounds very familiar....
Seems like we live nearly parallel lives :)
