and some people still think that driving too much and large SUV's are not a problem, or that a new coal power plant in North Salt Lake is a good idea...hmmm. See below:

1. The average person loses 13 pounds their first year of commuting by bike.
2. 40% of all car trips in the U.S. are made within 2 miles of home. (are you serious!!!???)
3. 60% of the pollution created by autos happens in the first few minutes of operation, before pollution control devices can work effectively.
4. Just 3 hours of biking per week can reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke by 50%.
5. The U.S. could save 462 million gallons of gas a year by boosting bicycle trips just half a percentage point: from 1% to 1.5% of all trips.

Ann, I'm sick too. Sick of having bronchitis and sick of feeling like the place I live is hostile to health and happiness. Yuck. Hope you feel better (and we get a BIG OLD STORM) real soon!

The news this moring said the inversion should start leaving today and be gone by Saturday- hooray. Also they mentioned that Utah was voted to be the most poluted state because of the inversion. Yikes!

I was in SLC last week and was sick, as well. I thought I caught a cold on the plane until someone told me it was probably the inversion, which I had never heard of before (and quite honestly was quit skeptical could be the cause of my malaise). Looks like he was right after all!

Hope you feel better soon...
