A Rose E'er Blooming

12.24.2008

Lo, how a Rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse's lineage coming, as those of old hath sung,
It came a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.

Isaiah 'twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind;
With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God's love aright, she bore to us a Savior,
When half spent was the night.

This Flower, whose Fragrance tender with sweetness fills the air,
Dispels the glorious slendor the darkness everywhere
True Man, yet very God, from sin and death He saves us,
And lightens every load.

This is one of my favorite Christmas carols. I love that we celebrate such a glorious event during the darkest time of year...it goes along with my belief in opposition, yes? I am oh so grateful for this Rose.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
