Happy Birthday, Celia Jane!

8.11.2008

My lovely grandmother, Celia Jane, is turning 84 years old today. She is of "The Greatest Generation" having made it gracefully through the Great Depression and the second World War. She knows what it means to save every penny, to sew her own clothes, to cherish family gatherings, and how to cook everything from scratch. I love this photo, above, of my grandma. She is such a stylish and beautiful woman, especially with the breath-taking scenery of Bryce Canyon behind her.

This is a photo of my mother, Dianne, grandma, Celia Jane, and me (my little brother, Mikey, popped his head in last second!) at my cousin's wedding this past week. I am grateful to be part of such an amazing legacy of women!

Grandmas really are the best. She seems like an amazing woman. All old people are so cute, but somehow Grandmas always become my favorite. It was great to see you this week!

The only thing you need to match us is silver hair. Notice I didn't say grey hair---silver brings to mind treasure, not old; but then, treasures can be old. My mom is and so my my daughter. Michael wants to be one of us.

What babes. Do you think Celia Jane would go out with me if I promise not to move too quickly on the first date? Plus did you ever realize that her initials are CJ?

Ya! Her initials ARE CJ...a fact we've long known. AND Celia Jane and Ceej have the SAME haircut...and they both love chocolate. They are pretty much the same person.
