if you want to take photos of something sometimes you have to eat it...unfortunately

2.22.2010

last week i had a craving,
not to eat macarons,
but to take photos of them...

unfortunately, i couldn't resist eating them when i was done.
they melt in your mouth.
these truly are the best macarons i've ever had.

These are my all-time favorite parisian treat! The ones in Belgium are not quite as good as the ones in France, and while in France I eat them liberally, often to the point of sickness. :) Can I come visit you and share your treat when we return to the US?

These look so good but not at all like my macaroons which are usually coconut covered with chocolate or vanilla.....is there another name for these cookies. Sure would love to know what is in them......:-) Hugs

bernie,
they're macarons (with only one "o") rather than macaroons (with two o's). i also think they are often referred to as "parisian" macarons. hope that helps!

I really want to learn how to make them. They are one of the prettiest treats I've seen. When I have some time off work. I think I'll finally learn.

The sacrifices that have to be made for art. So horrible. :)

i've never tried macarons but after seeing these, i think i need to! and i feel your pain; whenever i see a beautiful cake, i wonder how the ppl buying it could actually eat it! i guess the beauty makes it all the more delicious.

and thanks for your kind comment! i can't wait to hear what idea(s) you may have for a bday theme. :) i really like your blog; it's so fresh! and you have a real talent for photography. :)

Great pictures, bet they tasted good too,
My one try at macaroons was a disaster. I would love to make them, so need to try again. I too wouldn't be able resist eating the lot!

The pictures look terrific. Nicely done with the depth. However, I don't want to eat them. I had my first macaroons 2 years ago in Paris, I have to admit I hated them. Tooooo sweet. But go ahead knock yourself out on them. That's what they're for.

I am so in love with macarons. I just recently made some for the first time. And I can't wait to bake my second batch.
Your pictures are amazing.
