Thinking of Land

7.21.2008

This morning my heart is yearning for some refuge from the city. I want to gather my entire family and a few close friends and move to Southern, Utah...Boulder to be quite specific. (Ceej will be truly happy to read this post). What is it about land that is so romantic? My own belief is we are so drawn to the land because it is alive. It is real. It is rare to find someone who does not enjoy the peace and joy that come from being away from it all. Someday Ceej and I will have a large piece of land in southern Utah. We will leave most of it untouched, using only what we need. Can't wait.

GRANDPA would be so glad!!!! He has loved that place for as long as I can remember. He always carried his sleeping bag and a fishing pole in his car and would often stop at a place he liked on the mountain, throw out his sleeping bag and ahhhhh. I have a theory about Utah and why it is that there are many that want to return. I just deeply believe that it is our gathering place. There is a great power of this desert wilderness being prepared for the early saints who are our ancestors. There are beautiful places all over, but when the experiencing is over, we want to be home.

Beautiful post and so true. Somedays I long to just be in the mountains all day! I think the reason for longing to be close to nature is because when we are close to raw nature we are closer to the creator of all things. Everyone truly longs for that feeling of peace and tranquility that the Savior brings even if they don't believe in him.
