winter has settled in : january moves into february

1.31.2013

winter has settled in as we've experienced storm after storm after storm--we even had a rare ice storm.

i've been a bit saddened that i haven't been able to enjoy the snow as much as usual.
life is busy: a new job, starting a business, planning for another voyage magazine adventure, finding time to practice the violin, and keep my backcountry skiing lungs strong, and house hunting. there isn't enough time for everything, and so i am hoping to find a way to simplify, to sacrifice, to free up my life for the real priorities.

i had hoped to write more today as i am home from work with the flu--but unfortunately my heart isn't entirely cooperating. i just want to stay under my covers and fall in and out of sleep.

isn't january beautiful?

{p.s. lowell c. bennion was my grandmother's cousin}

Beautiful pictures and words - thank you. Balance is hard isn't it, but to be so stretched shows that you have lots of rich opportunities and possiblities in your life which is wonderful, just knowing how to focus on the things that really matter and bring one most joy and health, I wish I had the secret of that! Perhaps this quiet time under the duvet will give you space to ponder? Belinda x

The Joyce quote continues "...like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead" though, and the subject is a dead man. So, you (or whoever you stole if from) bastardized it a bit to get that schmaltzy tone.

E,

You're right that that is how the quote continues. But I did attribute it to Joyce. I did not "steal" it. Anyone could go look up the passage and see how it continues for themselves.

I'm at home with the flu right now, which at least gives me a chance to catch up with your precious blog. So far, you have managed to make me long for snow again, and stillness, and I really thought I was done with it; longing for sunshine. It's a good thing though, since snow is on its way to us right now.
