Yesterday I began decorating our house for Christmas. I think this is a tradition that every family shares and looks forward to as THE event to kick off the holiday season. The ornaments above were my grandmother's, Celia Jane. They are my favorite decorations, and they usually get a special display.
Here's the box of my sparkly and festive decorations...they've been boxed up oh so long!
Every year since we've been married I always hang ornaments in the windows. I started doing this to try to create the feel of those great Christmas movies from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. I don't know why this popped into my head, but it did. And I think it makes my windows so pretty!
Hooray for twinkle lights! It really warms up the room. Also, my loyal 3-year old wellies. What would I do without them? And last, in this photo, is another favorite: the door bells...I LOVE hearing them jingle when CJ comes home from work every night.
Candles in the window: an Irish tradition. The candles in the window let strangers know that you are a friendly house, ready to help any who are in need.
A hint to some other traditions.
The photo up front is of my mom and aunt sitting on Santa Claus's lap, circa 1951. You can see the photos better here.

I have oh so many Christmas Traditions. I'll try to post a little about them here and there. Perhaps you'd like to share some of your traditions in the comments...and if you like, add what your decorations are symbolic of. HAPPY DECORATING!
