Mrs. Backer's Bakery has been around since 1941 (I think). However, CJ and I only started patronizing this place a few years ago. We used to live down south in Springville, and every time we would come to SLC we would make a stop here. I'd get a chocolate donut bear, and he would get a cupcake. Now we live in the same neighborhood, and I stop here often to get my grandparents a sweet treat and some meat pies. Love it. Will miss it.

It's hard to leave a neighborhood. I hope you find a new home/neighborhood in CA.
I've seen that place! It's right across from Avenue's Bakery right? I've always wanted to go in there. Definitely will now!
Thanks for the tip! I LOVE bakeries.
This was an impossible dream for me, as a little girl, when I saw this. I kept hearing how delicious everything was in this bakery. But we never bought anything. But then, I got to eat the homecooking of my mom and grandma thayne--blueberry pie. Then you started to take me there, and you would buy me things I loved, like coconut macaroons. I'll eat a chocolate bear for you.

Love your blog, I grew up in Backer's Bakery, and Lisa Hannigan is so great. All these photos are so much better than all those college girls in their photo phase. I will miss seeing you guys. -Zachary
I never know what to get here...I gotta try this chocolate donut bear you speak of!
